A DAY IN MY LIFE AS A CAREGIVER

CAREGIVING FOR A REASON

Being a caregiver is a fulfilling yet challenging role that involves helping someone in need. My day typically begins early, around 6 AM, as I prepare for the responsibilities ahead. My main focus is Mrs. AGU TOBECHI, an elderly gentlewoman who requires assistance with daily activities.
I start my morning by gently waking Mrs AGU TOBECHI and helping her with personal hygiene and getting dressed. After that, I prepare her favorite breakfast—oatmeal topped with fresh fruit. We enjoy our meal together, sharing stories and laughter, which helps strengthen our bond.

After breakfast, we often take a walk in the nearby park. I push her wheelchair while she shares memories from her past. These walks are not only good for her physical health but also provide us with precious moments of connection.
Once we return home, I assist her with lunch and encourage her to relax for a bit. During this time, I catch up on my own reading or personal tasks while keeping an eye on her.

In the afternoon, I manage Mrs. TOBECHI’s medications and coordinate visits from healthcare professionals. Today, a nurse comes to check her health and discuss her treatment plan. I help facilitate communication between them, ensuring Mrs. Tobechi understands everything.
As evening approaches, I prepare dinner and we talk about our day. After dinner, we often watch a movie or listen to music together. Finally, I help her get ready for bed, making sure she is comfortable.

At the end of the day, I feel grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in Mrs. Tobechi’s life.

Each moment spent together teaches me about compassion and the importance of human connection
